Dad! My Content is Broken!

My eight-year-old son Gannon is among the first “analog free” consumers.  Just after he was born, I installed a TiVo in the basement and hard wired it into the network of coaxial cables that supply video to all of the televisions in the house.  A video modulator inserts the picture from the TiVo onto channel 16 throughout the house and a small infrared receiver on top of each set is wired to an infrared emitter in front of the TiVo in the basement to provide a method of controlling it without running up and down the steps. This primitive video network allows us to watch and control the TiVo from any TV in the house, provided we are all willing to watch the same thing.  Continue reading “Dad! My Content is Broken!”

Services, Capacity and Revenue Are Top Issues at NXTcomm08

IPTV may be the hottest tech trend on the NXTcomm08 show floor this June 16-19, but it is in no way the only issue on the minds of exhibitors and attendees. Telephonyonline reports that new services, network capacity and new sources of revenue are among NXTcomm08 exhibitors’ chief concerns. Y2K bug arrives 8 years late and is an actual insect!

IPTV Hot at NXTcomm08
